North Lake Tahoe Resort Association Resumes TBID Petition Drive
The North Lake Tahoe Resort Association / Chamber of Commerce (NLTRA) is leading an effort to form a Tourism Business Improvement District (TBID) for the North Lake Tahoe region. The formation of a TBID will provide resources to improve our local business communities, including:
- $4.1 Million | In Transient Occupancy Tax will be redirected to the North Tahoe region for traffic and trash mitigation projects and workforce housing initiatives.
- $6 Million | In TBID revenues will establish an independent voice for North Lake Tahoe, offset tourism impacts and support local businesses.
The NLTRA has incorporated community feedback to establish a TBID model that will accomplish a variety of goals for the business community and residents of North Lake Tahoe, learn more about the budget and governance structure in the TBID educational packet below.
The TBID is a funding mechanism that is controlled by tourism-related businesses that agree to assess themselves – these assessments are passed on to your customer at the point of sale, it is not a fee paid for by your business. The differences between TOT and TBID funding structures are critical to understanding the importance of implementing a TBID. Learn more below.
Through public outreach and education, the Management District Plan was finalized last fall and the Petition Drive has officially resumed. Jeffrey Hentz, CEO of the North Lake Tahoe Resort Association, is available for in-person and virtual meetings to answer any questions.
