Lake Tahoe is one of the most beautiful and iconic lakes in the world. As the largest alpine lake in North America, it has the California and Nevada state line running through it, with two-thirds of the lake in California.

North Lake Tahoe is made up of many small lakefront communities connected by the common threads of a shared shoreline, spectacular lake views, and some of Tahoe’s most expansive and sandy beaches providing abundant lake access and recreational opportunities. Residents and visitors enjoy 4 season fun and recreation including snowsports at 17 world-class Alpine and Cross-County Ski Resorts within close proximity (Lake Tahoe is the largest concentration of downhill ski resorts in North America), watersports, mountain biking, hiking and more in the summer and fall.

North Lake Tahoe is considered Tahoe’s “banana belt” because of its south facing exposure. NTBA serves Crystal Bay, Carnelian Bay, Tahoe Vista, with Kings Beach as its main commercial core. Kings Beach is designated by the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency and Placer County Area Plans as one of three “town centers,” which allows for greater density development. Kings Beach has one of the greatest concentration of year-round residents within easy walking/biking distance to its commercial corridor and recreation and scenic amenities including a California State Park in the heart of downtown Kings Beach.

In recent years, Kings Beach has seen a positive transformation and improvements including significant public infrastructure and environmental investments, award-winning public and charter schools, affordable housing developments, and private investment.

North Lake Tahoe is unincorporated. It is part of the eastern portion of Placer County.
