Business Resiliency Planning Toolkit– Business Resiliency Initiative (BRI) aims to help improve the awareness of and currently preparedness for disaster risks faced by the region’s small business economy. Improving awareness of risks and planning for business continuity can make great strides toward protecting individual small businesses and the economy of the greater region.
SCORE– SCORE offers the nation’s largest, network of free, expert business mentors. If you’re just starting a business, SCORE mentors can provide the practical action plan, education and tools you need to open your doors and establish a customer base. Already own a business? Our volunteer mentors can help identify ways to increase profit, improve employee and customer satisfaction, and achieve work/ life balance. With SCORE, you can have the honest, confidential and sometimes tough conversations about managing money, motivating your team, and other business topics. We can be your confidant, your cheerleader and your accountability partner on your path to achieving success. Best of all, most of SCORE’s services and workshops are free or at a very low cost.
Sierra Business Council – SBC is committed to helping Sierra towns avoid being “loved to death” as they struggle with development pressures. They believe we can add value to our existing towns by protecting our historic downtowns, developing high quality walkable and interconnected neighborhoods, and protecting the open space and natural assets that provide such a high quality of life to Sierra residents. To advance this goal, SBC published Planning for Prosperity, a visionary award-winning guide to land-use planning in the Sierra. Since that time, SBC has offered its services to promote positive models for development and documented successful approaches with other communities. They work with clients and local communities as resource suppliers, technical assistance providers, and as full-scale partners in long-term projects. They offer expertise in: community planning, collaborative process facilitation, sustainable business practices, natural area conservation and open space planning, ecosystem services planning, and rural economic development.
Sierra Human Resources Association– SHRA serves human resource practitioners, business owners and managers, students and the community by providing professional resources, networking and educational opportunities.
Sierra Small Business Development Center – Sierra SBDC is here to help you build your business, find capital, create jobs and contribute to a prosperous economy in the Sierra region. Their no cost consulting services are focused on helping you create a feasible business model, assess business opportunities, determine financial needs, identify potential sources of financing, and design an effective strategy to market and grow.
Small Business Administration– Since its founding on July 30, 1953, the U.S. Small Business Administration has delivered millions of loans, loan guarantees, contracts, counseling sessions and other forms of assistance to small businesses.
Tahoe Prosperity Center – The Tahoe Prosperity Center’s goal is to foster a collaborative environment to increase prosperity in the Tahoe Basin. Current projects include expanding high speed internet and cell phone coverage, adding local workforce housing and improving our communities and quality of life for residents. Tahoe Regional Planning Agency – The TRPA leads the cooperative effort to preserve, restore, and enhance the unique natural and human environment of the Lake Tahoe Region, while improving local communities, and people’s interactions with our irreplaceable environment. Placer County Economic Incentive Program – Placer County has an Economic Incentive Program to encourage Town Center redevelopment/development that achieves environmental and economic goals outlined in the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency’s 2012 Regional Plan Update (RPU). Placer County is updating its Area Plan consistent with the RPU, to achieve the goals and objectives for long term environmental and economic sustainability of North Lake Tahoe’s town centers of Kings Beach and Tahoe City. The Program is comprised of the following two components: (1) The Tourist Accommodation Unit (TAU) Cost Offset component funds and acquires commodities required to develop overnight visitor accommodations, as well as establishes a program to bank acquired TAUs and issue them to projects that meet established criteria, and (2) the Infrastructure Cost Offset component.
Placer County Community Development Resource Agency – The Community Development Resource Agency (CDRA) regulates land use and development in the unincorporated area of Placer County. The Agency maintains offices in the Auburn and Tahoe area. The Agency includes: building services, code compliance services, engineering and surveying, environmental coordination services, geographic information systems, and planning services. Customers can book appointments online at the agency’s offices in Auburn and in Tahoe City to process permit requests for residential and commercial developments along with grading, sewer, and special events.
Placer County Department of Public Works – The Department of Public Works provides a wide range of public services outside of city limits such as: road maintenance, bus service/transit, floodplain management, stormwater quality, public works engineering, maintenance of county vehicles, and Americans with Disabilities Act/Disabilities Access bus services and roadway ramps. They also provide information regarding public works projects, snow removal, road maintenance, Tahoe specifics, private land development, engineering/planning resources, encroachment permits, disadvantaged business enterprise program and the McKinney-Rubicon Trail.
Placer County Office of Economic Development – The Office of Economic Development provides services and information regarding the economic and demographic profile of the county,the Lake Tahoe Film Office, business tools, Sunset Industrial Area Plan, the Economic Development Board, and workforce development providing no-cost hiring assistance to employers in the County, wage reimbursement, job seeker resources, and job fairs.
Placer County Planning Services Division– Placer County Planning provides information on land development and zoning, review and make recommendations on land development applications, assist the Board of Supervisors and Planning Commission in planning for growth, and enforce the Placer County Zoning Ordinance.
Liberty Utilities – Liberty Utilities West is a regulated utility, delivering responsive and reliable service to nearly 49,000 California customers in the Lake Tahoe and surrounding areas. With a local approach to management, service and support, they deliver efficient, dependable services to meet the needs of their customers.
North Tahoe Public Utility District– The NTPUD provides sewer services to the residents of the north shore of Lake Tahoe. The District’s boundaries range from the Nevada state line in Crystal Bay to Dollar Hill. Their service area includes the communities of Kings Beach, Tahoe Vista, Brockway Vista, Carnelian Bay, Cedar Flat and Agate Bay.
Southwest Gas – Southwest Gas Corporation is principally engaged in the business of purchasing, distributing and transporting natural gas to residential, commercial and industrial customers in the southwestern United States.
Spectrum Business– Spectrum Business helps businesses achieve better results by delivering reliable Internet, Ethernet, Phone and Enhancement solutions. They offer a wide range of products — from high-quality broadband services to phone systems and top-tier digital TV and Music, that are flexible and can meet the demands of growing businesses.
Kings Beach Benefit Assessment District – was formed to fund the maintenance of the Kings Beach Commercial Core Improvement Project infrastructure improvements which began construction in 2013.The Kings Beach Commercial Core Improvement Project (KBCCIP) was a $44 Million initiative to revitalize Kings Beach through storm water management programs, fresh and new streetscape designs and traffic calming measures. The project is centered around a “hybrid” three-lane alternative that includes three lanes with roundabouts and limited on-street seasonal parking.
Main Street Approach – As a unique preservation-based economic development tool, the Main Street Four Point Approach® is the foundation for local initiatives to revitalize their districts by leveraging local assets—from cultural or architectural heritage to local enterprises and community pride. In 2004, with the support of Placer County, the NTBA began coordinating community meetings to implement the Main Street Four-Point Approach in their operations.
NTBA 2020 Strategic Plan – NTBA’s vision for the year 2020 is that the NTBA District (Carnelian Bay to Crystal Bay), as a result of NTBA’s work, will been known as vibrant lakeside communities that welcome visitors like family, celebrates diversity, and has thriving businesses.
Take Care Tahoe– Take Care is a campaign effective July 1, 2015 to promote a culture of environmental stewardship, using one voice to inspire people to take care of Tahoe. Take the pledge to Take Care.
