Support YOUR Community Food Hub
Since 2013, Tahoe Food Hub has been working to make fresh, local, seasonal foods more accessible and affordable for North Lake Tahoe. They are building a network of local farms in order to support sustainable growing practices, provide farmers a fair and equitable distribution system and increase access to affordable, local food for our mountain community. They have outgrown their current location and need a larger warehouse and Farm Shop to support more local farms and increase access to healthy, fresh, sustainably-grown food for communities in the Tahoe basin.
Expanding the warehouse will allow Tahoe Food Hub to better serve our community, farmers, schools, hospitals and hunger relief agencies. Their NEW Farm Shop will be opening at the Truckee-Tahoe Airport in spring 2019. Till then, visit the current location at 150 Alpine Meadows Rd. or check the website for a list of restaurants that support local farms.
THE FUND DRIVE
The goal for the online crowdfund campaign is to raise $30,000. It will contribute to the overall Fund Drive goal of $160,000 which will be reached through the crowdfund campaign, private donations, grants and Pitchfork & the Pan pop-up farm dinners. Funds raised will help Tahoe Food Hub move into a warehouse at the Truckee-Tahoe Airport. The biggest investment will be a 1,400sf walk-in cooler/freezer which will give the needed capacity to efficiently distribute local food around the region. With additional space they will be able to:
- Develop an online store for consumers to customize local food boxes.
- Expand our Farm Shop to a more centralized facility with more products.
- Move a larger volume of food to better serve our schools, hospitals and hunger relief agencies.
