Sierra Speaker Series: “Trilogy: Chinese Railroad Workers, From Donner to Central Valley,” A Min Zhou Film
The Sierra State Parks Foundation is very pleased to offer a film premiere of “Trilogy: Chinese Railroad Workers, From Donner to Central Valley” by Min Zhou. Follow Min’s travels from California’s Central Valley to Utah’s Salt Lake City as she interview Chinese railroad worker descendants to uncover the history of the Chinese railroad workers and life after the completion of the railroad.
Three 25 minutes movie shorts will screen at 4:30 pm, followed by a discussion panel of historians, academics, community leaders, and railroad worker descendants at 6 pm.
This event is in partnership with the US-China Railroad Friendship Association. The missions of US – China Railroad Friendship Association are commemoration of Chinese railroad workers in building US transcontinental railroad and promotion of building mutual friendship between peoples of American and China.
Complimentary refreshments and sandwiches will be served, with beverages available for purchase. A $5 donation is suggested for this free program. State Park parking fees will be waived for the evening.
