Drone show at Incline Village | Travel North Tahoe Nevada
Pick from two amazing celebrations in Tahoe City or Incline Village
for groundbreaking drone shows that are sure to delight!
While our Kings Beach community will not have a drone show on July 3rd, our businesses are OPEN and ready to serve you as you enjoy a day on the beach, on the water, or on the trails!
In 2022, the NTBA experimented with a drone light show over Labor Day weekend in lieu of the pyrotechnic fireworks show that formerly took place on July 3 in celebration of Independence Day. After a two year hiatus due to the pandemic and a wind cancellation last year, the decision to shift to a drone light show was made to align with the region’s commitment to sustainability and stewardship, and address community concerns related to fire risk, wildlife and environmental impacts. Moving the show to Labor Day weekend gives the NTBA the unique opportunity to create a more significant impact for area businesses as compared to the already busy Independence Day holiday.
The decision to move our show from July 3rd to Labor Day weekend did not come lightly. NTBA Staff and Board took into consideration all aspects of the impacts of this transition. There were operational hurdles at KBSRA that would have impacted the overall size and success of a show on July 3rd, and we would have been limited to a very small show, such as we had in 2022. The community feedback we received following the 2022 show was that the community wanted to see drones but at a much larger size and a more unique show. We had the ability to make our show 6x larger with 300 drones for our September 1 Lights in the Sky show. We met with business owners after our 2022 Labor Day weekend show, and many of them felt that they didn’t see a loss in business or revenues around the Independence Day holiday over the past three years without a show, but the positive impact that they saw was the shift to a Labor Day show added another busy holiday weekend that they previously didn’t have and at the end of their summer season. In looking around the North Shore we recognized that there’s no large scale event for the Labor Day holiday and felt this was an incredible opportunity to own that weekend for our district, businesses and community. We took this shift and idea through not only our Board of Directors but with all of our partners and community committees who all unanimously agreed that this is a positive shift. We have the support of our partners at NTCA, TCDA, Incline Village and Truckee for the Labor Day Event and holiday weekend and our district will be on the forefront for our visitors and community.
“The decision made by the Tahoe City Downtown Association (TCDA), alongside our neighbors in Kings Beach and Incline Village, to replace traditional fireworks with an aerial drone light show is a testament to the unwavering commitment of North Tahoe toward Sierra stewardship and sustainability. By eliminating the risks associated with fires and environmental pollution, and by significantly reducing noise pollution, the entire North Shore of Tahoe is supporting our local businesses, contributing to the preservation and wellbeing of the planet, as well as the lake we all love so much.” | Katie Biggers, TCDA Executive Director via Moonshine Ink [read more]
Be sure to SAVE THE DATE for NTBA’s Music on the Beach, Lights in the Sky! that will kick off Labor Day Weekend Friday, September 1 from 6-9:30pm. Start the night with amazing live music from GrooveSession followed by a custom drone light show over the lake.
“Although Labor Day weekend has always signaled the end of summer, until last year the season typically came to a close without much fanfare. The tremendous response to last year’s final concert and inaugural drone show demonstrated what was possible as we continue to pursue opportunities to help our local businesses thrive all year round. We’re excited to host the final holiday of summer with a community celebration that actively supports our local business community and a drone show that is six times larger than last year.” | Alyssa Reilly, NTBA Executive Director [read more]
