Placer County Library set to launch its Summer @ Your Library program
Placer County Library is getting ready to launch its summer program. With the theme of “Let’s Go: Summer @ Your Library!” the library will focus on summer learning with interactive reading logs, programs, activities and incentives for people of all ages.
Summer @ Your Library launches June 1 in western Placer County and June 16 for its North Lake Tahoe libraries. During the next two months, the library will host a range of free programs and activities for children, teens and adults to encourage and support lifelong learning.
Golden Ticket events are back by popular demand. Children who complete an activity log earn a golden ticket that grants them access to secret library events across the county. These events are not advertised to anyone beyond the ticket holders.
“Last year’s inaugural Golden Ticket event was a roaring success and we’re excited to offer the program again this year,” said Amie Toepfer, Summer @ Your Library chair. “We’ve really pulled out all the stops this year and these events are guaranteed to be unlike anything our finishers have ever seen, which includes some very special guests our participants will love to meet.”
“The beauty of the Golden Ticket program is that it encourages library users to travel to our different library locations to attend Golden Ticket events,” said Director of Library Services Mary George. “This helps promote a greater sense of community – allowing people to interact with new people and experience different libraries around Placer County. ”
Families can pick up reading logs, event calendars and bookmarks at any Placer County library. A full listing of events can also be found here.
“Summer @ Your Library has something for everyone: science, games, crafts, magic, movies, animal shows, ukulele classes and prizes – including a chance for teens to win a new iPad,” said Toepfer. “We also have fun pop-up activities that are always happening inside the library. We can’t wait to see everyone this summer!”
