AUBURN, Calif. — In preparation for the March 3 presidential primary election, the Placer County Elections Office will distribute voter information guides to registered Placer County voters beginning Jan. 31.
Voter information guides provide important information about items to be voted on this election as well as polling place locations. Voters are encouraged to check and confirm their polling place locations.
Those who are not permanent vote-by-mail voters or do not reside in a mail ballot precinct can use the back cover of the guide to apply for a vote-by-mail ballot or download a request form from the Elections Office website at www.placerelections.com.
Voters who are not registered with a political party and are considered a “no party preference voter” will not see the presidential or central committee races on their ballot.
Voters wanting to crossover and vote for a Libertarian, American Independent or Democratic candidate for the March 3 election may contact the Elections Office to request a crossover ballot at 530-886-5650.
To vote for Libertarian, American Independent or Democratic Central Committee candidates’ voters must re-register into that respective party.
Republican, Peace and Freedom and Green Parties are not allowing crossover voting this election. Those who would like to vote on one of their ballots will need to re-register into that party. Voters can re-register online at www.registertovote.ca.gov, or call the Elections Office at 530-886-5650 to request a voter registration card.
Some polling places will have translated sample ballots in Spanish, Tagalog or Korean available for reference. Voters are encouraged to contact the Elections Office to confirm if their polling place will have a translated sample ballot, or to request to have one mailed to their address before election day. Translated sample ballots must be received no later than seven days before election day.

Feb. 18: Last day to register to vote for the presidential primary election
Feb. 18: Write-in candidate filing period ends for this election
Feb. 19: First day for conditional voter registration for this election
Feb. 22-23: Elections Office open from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. for early voting
Feb. 25: Last day to request a vote-by-mail ballot by mail
Feb. 29-March 1: Elections Office open from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. for early voting
March 3: Election day
Placer County residents who do not receive their voter information guides by Feb. 3 or misplace their guide can view it on www.placerelections.com.
Voter registration forms may be picked up at all post offices, libraries and DMV offices in Placer County, or completed online at www.registertovote.ca.gov.
Registered voters who’ve interacted with the DMV are urged to confirm their voter status; political party preference, vote-by-mail status, address and all other pertinent information. Voter status information is available at www.voterstatus.sos.ca.gov or by contacting the Elections Office at 530-886-5650.
