ROLE PROFILE
The Director of Destination Management leads NLTRA’s Destination Management Division as the lead agency for planning, infrastructure, transportation, capital improvement, and workforce housing development projects for the North Lake Tahoe region. This position will collaboratively research, design, and develop short and long-term initiatives in alignment with the Tourism Master Plan, and destination stewardship projects to improve the visitor experience and economic vitality for the assessed businesses, programs, and projects. The Director will develop critical collaborative relationships by convening and participating with federal, state, regional and local legislative agencies, NLTRA committees, NLTRA Board of Directors, Placer County staff and Board of Supervisors, key stakeholders, as well as the general public. Identifies key funding strategies and opportunities to fulfill community projects and objectives.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Guides development of recommendations on the use of TOT and TBID dollars to offset impacts of tourist visitation, enhance economic vitality and environmental sustainability, and increase quality of experience for guests and residents.
- Coordinates and leads committee meetings, community workshops and communication to key agency partners, community stakeholders, and general public.
- Conducts research and facilitates public input for project development in the areas of workforce housing, transportation, capital improvement, and other needs as identified by the Tourism Master Plan
- Attends and actively participates in meetings, forums, workshops, etc., with federal, state, regional and local legislative bodies and agencies, as well as their staffs, that cause NLTRA projects and positions to result in successful resolution
- Develops and expands partnerships to support and accomplish Tourism Master Plan and Management District Plan objectives
- Works to develop and take advantage of all opportunities for partnership match funding to better leverage TOT/TBID funds
- Prepares detailed project descriptions, prepares RFPs, selects consultants, negotiates, and manages contracts, and performs budget and payment scrutiny
- Works with the Placer County staff on planning, finance, and budget matters affecting the NLTRA and its mission and goals
- Attends and participates in community meetings which further the missions and goals of the NLTRA
- Works through NLTTBID Advisory Committee, Zone 1 Advisory Committee, TOT-Housing/Transportation Committee, CAP Committee, and NLTRA Board of Directors to set work plans, project priorities, investment strategies and timelines necessary to carry out the tasks of the NLTRA
- Oversees departmental administrative support of NLTTBID Advisory Committee, Zone 1 Advisory Committee, and TOT-Housing/Transportation Committee
- Oversee Visitor Information Centers and staff, ensures visitor experience aligns with NLTRA promotional and stewardship goals while using updated technology to drive guest interaction
- Oversees TCDA and NTBA contracts, chamber programming, assessed membership relationships, communication, and committees
- As a member of the NLTRA Senior Leadership Team, assists in developing and leading team culture and implementation of cross-functional goals and supporting initiatives
- Ensures that diversity, equity, and inclusion are a part of the department’s culture
- Prepares and presents written progress reports to CEO and NLTRA Board
- Works closely with other NLTRA department heads to ensure strong and effective communications interdepartmentally
- Performs other duties as assigned or requested
