The Leadership Program creates an opportunity for potential leaders to broaden their understanding of the region and its issues, challenges, and opportunities; while developing and honing their leadership skills. Since 2004, the program has graduated more than 480 individuals. These alumni are now challenging themselves and serving their employers and our community in a variety of active community-building efforts.
The program begins in January and ends in June. It includes one welcome reception, five day-long sessions, two half-day sessions, and optional field trips where participants will be “out in the field” getting a close-up view of issues, how various agencies work, and the challenges facing our community.
The workshops will again be led by Shannon Beets, the Leadership Program’s Director of Education and Lead Facilitator. She also is the Director of Evaluation and Assessment, University of Nevada School of Medicine. Each workshop is a full day with time spent on regional issues such as the environment, affordable housing, transportation, or local food sources; and also on leadership skill development such as making effective decisions, steward leadership, team basics, networking, personality traits, public speaking, and change management.
Tuition fee for the Leadership Program is $825 for businesses/individuals, $750 for special districts/governments, and $600 for non-profit organizations. The fee covers all expenses of the program including meals and supplies. Partial scholarships may be available. Deadline to apply is 5PM December 9, 2024. Space is limited, and the class is once again expected to fill!
The North Lake Tahoe-Truckee Leadership Program is a collaborative project of the North Tahoe Chamber, North Tahoe Business Association, and Truckee Chamber of Commerce. The Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation acts as our fiscal partner.
