Why Drones?

NTBA’s staff and board feel that this is the right time to put our community and our environment first by prioritizing sustainability, fire safety, and local wildlife. The environmental impacts from fireworks include the negative effects on the clarity of our beautiful lake and on the cleanliness of our beaches. Noise pollution impacts our wildlife, as well as our community members and their pets who are triggered by loud noises. The past few years of wildfire and smoke impacts on the region and fire safety in general are on the forefront for the entire Lake Tahoe Basin, and we feel that a shift away from fireworks will support the region’s focus on these issues, as well as minimize the chance of accidentally causing a forest fire within the basin and in our district. The liability of that is far too large and concerning. We look forward to our 1st annual Drone Light Show in Kings Beach on July 3, and to spending the holiday with our residents and visitors. North Lake Tahoe will launch drones instead of fireworks to celebrate Independence Day this year

The shift aligns with the region’s commitment to sustainability and stewardship, and addresses community concerns related to fire risk and environmental impacts.

No amount is too big or too small...
Keep Tahoe Red, White & Blue Beach Cleanup

Join us on July 5 from 8-11:30am for a Beach Cleanup. After Tahoe’s celebrated July Fourth festivities, our beaches are thrashed with trash, which can hurt wildlife and lake clarity. Each year, hundreds of Tahoe residents and visitors turn out for our largest cleanup of the year to remove litter from our beaches. Help Keep Tahoe Blue by joining a beach cleanup site! Cleanup materials will be provided, plus refreshments and raffle prizes.
