Dear Friends of the Fox,
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I am Ryan McKenzie, the new Executive Director of Fox Cultural Hall (formerly Arts for the Schools), following in the footsteps of Eve McEneaney. As a lifelong North Tahoe native, I remember feeling deeply inspired by the visual and performing arts programs brought to our schools by the founder of Arts For The Schools, Terry Yagura. Terry’s vision of opening eyes to the beauty of cultural diversity through performing arts and bolstering creativity through experiential visual arts education in local classrooms, is just as important and powerful today as it was then. I am excited and honored to continue her vision.
Our goal here at Fox Cultural Hall is to inspire, teach, and unify our local communities through equitable access to the arts and arts education. We pursue this mission through our school partnerships and community events. I believe the arts and the cultural humanities have the power to bring communities together by breaking down prejudice and building bridges across social divides. Therefore, I am committed to leading our team toward innovative and collaborative programing, developing and strengthening strategic partnerships, and effectively communicating a clear vision for the path forward. With these initiatives and the ongoing support of our community, we can accomplish our mission to serve our local students and bring our Tahoe communities together!
With the start of this school year, Fox Cultural Hall enters into its 40th year of faithfully carrying out this mission, reaching more than 7,000 students annually. We reflect on the incredible journey of the organization, humbled by the unwavering support of individuals like you, who have been carriers of our cause.
We are reaching out to share the news of our leadership transition and to invite you to join us once again in making an impact on our schools and community by supporting our Visual and Performing Arts programs.
These programs enable us to increase our education and performance offerings with expert visual arts instruction, musical concerts, live dance, and theatrical performances to reach as many students and community members as we can with the transformative power of the arts. Every dollar you give fosters cultural understanding in an often divided world.
