Centennial Celebration & Re-dedication of the Pioneer Monument with Sierra State Parks
Erected to honor the immigrants who passed through Truckee en-route to new opportunities in the West, the Pioneer Monument has stood majestically at Donner Memorial State Park for 99 years. At its dedication on June 6, 1918, thousands of people and three Donner Party survivors gathered to honor the past. June 9, 2018 is the re-dedication, centennial celebration, and restoration kickoff of this iconic statue.
11am-noon: Re-dedication Ceremony (Free public event)
12pm-4pm: Family activities, music, exhibits (Free)
5:30pm: Centennial Celebration Gala (limited tickets)
Pioneer Monument Centennial Fundraising Gala
Party like it is 1918 and save a monument! Celebrate the 100 year anniversary of the Pioneer Monument and the kickoff of the fundraising campaign for the Donner Project! The evening of June 9th will begin with live music and a private cocktail hour with passed hors d’oeuvres and a specialty cocktail created just for the evening. Followed will be a wine-paired gourmet feast from farm and sea by Lockwood Winery and Mountain Magic Catering and a silent and live auction, There will be lots of surprises making for a fun and worthy evening. The event will be under a heated tent with the Pioneer Monument as a background.
Dress is “Truckee Formal”.
