North Lake Tahoe Plein Air Open with North Tahoe Arts

A week-long gathering of plein air artists hosted by North Tahoe Arts from June 12 – 16, 2018

About the 2018 Event

North Tahoe Arts presents the 2018 North Lake Tahoe Plein Air Open. Artists of all levels from all over the country will gather in North Lake Tahoe for the week of June 12-16, 2018 to paint the breathtaking scenery of North Lake Tahoe “en plein air,” in the open air. 

The Farmer’s Market Quick Draw Competition (Thursday, June. 14 from 9am-Noon) Come watch our artists create a new painting on the spot in only 2 hours! Paintings will then be on display for our judges to award prizes and for the public to view. Other organized activities for the artists include two morning paint-outs and painting demonstration.

​The Public Exhibit will take place in conjunction with Tahoe City Downtown Association’s annual wine walk. Main Competition prizes will be awarded at the opening of the Wine Walk Saturday, June 16 at noon. This exhibit is free and open to the public. Come vote for the “People’s Choice” award!

2018 Event Schedule

Tuesday, June 12:

AM- Champagne Registration Artists arrive and register, canvas stamping, and 2 paintings for the event long exhibit in the Corison Gallery at North Tahoe Arts. Refreshments will be served. 

PM- Artist Connect Informal meet up at Gatekeepers to paint and meet. Week long exhibit and sale 1 – 5pm in Corison Gallery

Wednesday, June 13: 

AM- Organized Paint Out, location Blackwood, refreshments provided

PM- Painting Demonstration 4-6pm and “French Picnic” themed refreshments NLT Plein Air Open Exhibit and Sale  11am-5pm

Thursday, June 14:

AM- Commons Beach Farmers Market Quick-Draw Competition

PM- Artists free to paint around Lake Tahoe/Truckee NLT Plein Air Open Exhibit and Sale  11am-5pm

Friday, June 15:

AM- Organized Paint Out, location TBA, refreshments provided

PM- Artists drop off paintings for judging and Reception at North Tahoe Arts’ Corison Gallery. NLT Plein Air Open Exhibit and Sale  11am-5pm

Saturday, June 16:

AM- Exhibit set up Award Presentation Noon

Public Exhibit and Sales, 12-5pm

Take down: Artist take artwork  5pm – 7pm
