“Hogs for the Cause” is a two-day benefit that originated in New Orleans in 2009. The idea was, and still is, to aid the families of these children who have been afflicted with such a terrible disease. The “Hogs for the Cause” 501c (3) charity foundation assists families with cash grants that help pay the rent, utilities and every day expenses. Fast-forward a few short years (nine to be exact and Hogs for the Cause is now one of the largest barbecue competitions and music festivals in the country. Their charitable purpose remains the same: helping families fighting pediatric brain cancer. In 2017, Hogs for the Cause West was able to assist two Northern Nevada families through the Renown pediatric oncology department.
