Ever wonder how Lake Tahoe came to be? It turns out that the creation of Lake Tahoe tells the story of unimaginable global forces that took place over millions of years, involving thousands of miles of the earth’s surface, and at depths many miles beneath it. And, in fact, the rocks of the Tahoe Basin tell not just the geologic history of Tahoe but also much of western North America. Dave Schnake, Tahoe Rim Trail Association Board President, Master Trail Builder, and retired geologist will be at the Reno REI to give a non-technical explanation of Tahoe’s geology.
