Dear Parents and Community Members,
We launched a new and innovative way of teaching and learning at TTUSD, and in a very short period of time. I am so proud of how our teachers and students have embraced our new learning model and the creativity of our team to provide quality, engaging learning online. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through this new opportunity.
I wish we knew what lies ahead, but we don’t. COVID-19 continues to spread in our county, our state, and the country. We originally told you that school would be closed until April 3, 2020, however, we don’t know how long we will be under the Governor’s stay at home order. We all need to prepare ourselves this public health order could go on for some time. At this time, it clearly isn’t realistic to re-open our schools by April 3.
The health and safety of our students is a responsibility we take seriously. We are in constant communication with the Placer County Office of Education, Placer County Public Health and statewide education leaders on how we can keep all who are part of our learning community safe in the midst of this growing health crisis.
Late yesterday, all Placer County School Superintendents agreed that all schools in Placer County will be closed at least until May 1, 2020, to slow the spread of COVID-19 to the maximum extent possible. This decision was supported by the Placer County Health Officer and the Placer County Superintendent of Schools. We plan to reassess in April. We realize the huge impact this has on everyone, parents, students, staff and our community.
We all want students back in school and for our communities to return to normalcy as soon as possible. But, not at the risk of their health and safety. This is a public safety crisis and it’s critical we all do our part to stop the spread of the COVID-19. We will continue to keep you informed as we learn more, but for now, please plan on our school closures being extended an additional month with distance learning continuing.

Given our situation, it’s more important than ever that we all stay connected. Be sure to follow us and stay connected to TTUSD on Facebook. Please send us pictures of students studying remotely that we can share on Facebook to keep a feeling of community and connectedness throughout our district. Send your photos to socialmedia@ttusd.org with a short caption of what your student is working on!
Our Board Meetings Have Gone Virtual
Based on the Governor’s stay at home order, our board meetings have gone virtual. As always, our board meetings will be live-streamed. Our next board meeting is Wednesday, April 1, at 5:30 p.m. If someone has a public comment to share with the board, they may email their comments to boardroom@ttusd.org.
FREE Meals
TTUSD is providing meal services from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., every Monday – Friday. A bag lunch, as well as breakfast for the next day, will be offered to each child.
We have eight pick up locations and families can go to whichever location is most convenient for you – it does not have to be your child’s school. Please note that the meals are available for pick up only. Our schools are closed for social distancing and there will be no eating onsite. Click here for more info.
Do your part & stay home, please!!
The Governor’s stay at home order continues to be in effect to slow the spread of the virus. Please take all reasonable means to stay home, and only venture out to public spaces when it is absolutely necessary – and when you must, maintain social distancing at all times. People are having to make hard decisions all across the world – to close schools, to shut down businesses and lose income for months, to lay off employees who desperately need the income for food and housing, and cancel once in a lifetime events. It is all for nothing if we don’t do our part and social distance. This is bigger than us, it is about our community, our state, and our country. We are all part of the solution. Please take care of each other by staying home!
